Lehigh Valley –April 18, 2006 – Sheer Brick Studio of Bethlehem won a Gold ADDY Award for its CD packaging entry in the category of sales promotion at the District 2 regional competition. This marks the first time an entry from the Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club has won an award at the district level. District level winners next go on to compete at the national level.
At the Greater Lehigh Valley Ad Club’s ADDY Awards ceremony in March, Sheer Brick Studio won Gold and Best of Show - Print awards for the same entry. It was then forwarded onto the next tier of competition, District 2, which includes submissions from agencies and companies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Washington D.C.
The CD packaging was created by Donna Mugavero, owner of Sheer Brick Studio, for Geologic Records’ recording artist George Hrab’s latest album “Interrobang.” The cover features Hrab in an almost completely naked state holding a strategically placed round disc.
The photography was done by John Sterling Ruth Studio of Bethlehem. The offset litho printing of the CD packaging, including a 16-page booklet, was done by Christmas City Printing of Bethlehem. The CD’s recording was by BeSharp Studio of Astoria, NY.
The ADDY® Awards Competition is a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation. Entries are first judged at a local level through competitions by more than 200 ad clubs affiliated with AAF. Local winners then advance to one of 14 regional competitions. Regional Gold-level winners automatically advance to the national competition. Since Sheer Brick Studio’s entry earned a Gold award at the District 2 regional level, it has been forwarded to the national ADDY Awards competition, whose awards ceremony takes place on June 11 in San Francisco.
The ADDY Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence. Nearly 200 entries were submitted for this year’s Lehigh Valley event. In January, each entry was judged by experts in the field of creativity brought in from outside the Lehigh Valley.
