Last fall, GLVAC Board Member Erica Honeyman heard the request for design help go out from Turning Point, so she turned to the students in her design classes at Lehigh Valley College in Center Valley.
Student Kyle Laule volunteered to help the non-profit redesign various elements for its ongoing campaign entitled “Hurt” to help draw attention to abuse against women and the important, life-saving services the facility provides. As part of his October – December 2007 internship, Kyle lent his time and talent to create posters, brochures and fliers.
His creative work was so good that the ADDY judges awarded the campaign’s poster a Silver award at the recent ceremony in Macungie. Internship supervisor and Communications Director Jennifer Mack said of Kyle: “He was diligent and enthusiastic and used his talents and creativity to really run with two of the projects we asked him to undertake: creating a potential logo and redesigning a brochure. Kyle made a great contribution by objectively evaluating our current literature and posters, and brainstorming ideas to develop a potential branding look that people can identify as being synonymous with Turning Point. As we enter our 30th year as an organization and continue to change and grow, such input is invaluable.”
Kyle is now a graduate of the college’s Visual Communications program and is presently looking for a career in his field in the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area.
So if anyone knows of career opportunities up north, please let Erica know so she can pass them along to Kyle.
